Haumea
Haumea is one of the fastest moving celestial objects in our solar system, despite its weird shape.
Haumea has two moons, Hi'aka and Namaka. Haumea was discovered in Sierra Nevada Observatory, in Spain 2003. However, the discovery was announced to the public when its moons were discovered in 2005. |
Haumea is about 1,220-1,436 miles across.
Haumea is about 43 times further away from the sun than Earth is (4 billion miles away from the sun). It is believed that Haumea is made up of rock. |
Haumea's surface is a thin coating of ice.
In 2009, a red spot was found on Haumea, but unlike Jupiter, the spot is thought to be mainly made up of organic mineral compounds. So far, Haumea is the fastest spinning object in our solar system. |
